About The Organization
National FFA Organization
The official name of the organization is the National FFA Organization. The letters “FFA” stand for Future Farmers of America. These letters are a part of our history and our heritage that will never change.
FFA is a dynamic youth organization that changes lives and prepares members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
FFA develops members’ potential and helps them discover their talent through hands-on experiences, which give members the tools to achieve real-world success.
Members are future farmers, chemists, veterinarians, government officials, entrepreneurs, bankers, international business leaders, teachers and premier professionals in many career fields.
FFA is an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership. It is one of the three components of agricultural education.
“Future Farmers of America” was founded by a group of young farmers in 1928. Their mission was to prepare future generations for the challenges of feeding a growing population. They taught us that agriculture is more than planting and harvesting – it’s a science, it’s a business and it’s an art.

Westminster High School’s FFA chapter was the 8th FFA chapter established in the state.
Membership has been growing in recent years with the WHS FFA chapter now being the 3rd largest one in Colorado.
Our FFA chapter at WHS is dedicated to providing students with hands-on experiences in career fields of interest to them, in addition to developing leadership skills which will help them throughout their lives. We greatly appreciate your support in these endeavors.
In the past year for example, we fielded teams that competed at the state level in the Career Development Events (CDE); Veterinary Science, Floriculture, Nursery/Landscape, and Agriculture Technical and Mechanical Systems. In addition seven students competed on the Agricultural Issues team, developing a forum on finding less water intensive varieties of alfalfa to utilize in order to conserve precious water resources, this event was held at the Colorado State FFA convention in June down in Pueblo. Locally the chapter hosted the Colorado FFA District 11 Leadership Development Event where students practiced and participated in competitions on FFA Creed Speaking, Employability Skills, Prepared Public Speaking, and Extemporaneous Public Speaking.
Last year the chapter attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis. Four students represented Colorado as the Nursery/Landscape CDE state winning team, along with two student delegates from the chapter which was very beneficial to those two students. This year we are once again the winners of the Colorado Nursery/Landscape CDE and are returning to Indianapolis in late October for the 2024 National FFA Convention. Half of that winning team is our two delegates that went to Nationals last year but weren’t on the team, proof that bringing delegates can further increase engagement in our FFA Chapter.
Funds raised through this particular campaign would go towards getting the four students on that winning Nursery and Landscaping CDE team to their National CDE competition, along with as many additional student delegates as possible, to the National Convention
